Hi sorry haven't been to regular at putting up post on Bathing to help your skin as I said I would.
So back now to do one for you on Problem Skin. I know all of us have some form of problem skin, but what I mean is skin with Blemishes and Spots (pimples), yes the ones we really love to have and we all get at some stage, whether young or young:-) sure you know what I mean there. Bathing can help these types as well as any other problem type skin you might have. As I have said before it's just finding the right Oils that suit you.
Please do remember never to use to much oil in the bath as this can do more harm than good. Sorry to repeat myself for those that read my blog. But it is very important to understand and learn about the oils you are using. Always read the labels first. Only use amounts given and also the amount I give is what I use for my skin type. These bathing remedies and tips are my own remedies or should I say my Mum's and her Mum and so on down the line.
So what do we do, we first prepare the bath and bathroom. Get the relaxing music, close the doors, turn off the phone and get ready to relax. Run your bath. I say this because it is actually part of the healing process. The more relaxed you are in the bath the more relaxed your skin is.
Make up a mixure of two drops Lavender Oil
and two drops Tea Tree Oil;
Once your bath is at your decided warmth not to hot I hope.
Just add mixture to bath, lay back and relax. 20 minutes in a bath of oils is usually long enough, don't want you turning into a prune.
The reason these Oils work so well is they are known for their antibacterial properties and they are both calming oils.
If you have a real bad problem with spots and pimples, you can just dab them with neat Tea Tree oil.
But if you don't like the smell of Tree Tea you can also use the Lavender Oil the same way. I have used this dab a pimple with either of these oils lots of times. The Tea Tree oil I feel for me anyway even though it does smell yuk, works wonders.
Good idea to wear clothes made of cotton as I'm sure you know synthetic fabrics can irritate some skin types.
Hope you enjoy your bath, even if you have no problems with your skin, you can never beat a bath to wash away the stresses of life.
Enjoy :-)

Bathing To Help Your Skin
We all have different skin types. Dry Skin, Problem Skin, Sensitive Skin, and if you are lucky Normal Skin. But we all feel sometimes it would be lovely to just soak away the problem.
Well there are some bathing remedies to help most skin types. Even if it's just to relieve sun burnt skin, which I gave you a remedy for in post "Another Bathing Remedy". So this time we'll start with Dry Skin.
Dry Skin
Which is probably the most common, as when I was a hairdresser dry hair would have been the most asked for advise.
Dry skin is usually caused by yes the plain old climate. And with all the air conditioners/heaters around today we can't just blame the weather. Also stress and our diet add to the problem.
So what relief can we get from a bath, well lots if you work at it a bit.
First run a nice warm bath, not a boiling hot one that a lot of us like to have, as that will just make your skin to sensitive. When using oils in the bath , you must remember never to just pure heaps of natural oils into a bath. They can be very Strong and do more harm to your skin than good. Also if you are pregnant always read the labels on bottles first.
Get your nice smoothing music ready, close the door to keep all the lovely aromas in and get ready to relax and hydrate your skin at the same time.
Mix together two drops of Sandalwood and two drops of Rose Oil, add this to the bath. You can also add, (and this is not as bad as it sounds) Vegetable oil, 2 teaspoons is enough. Or Sweet Almond Oil or Jojoba will help to boost up the hydrating process.
Relax in bath, and using you hand rest it on the surface of the water, you'll notice some of the oil will be settled there. Use your hand as you would a sponge and gently smooth the oil over your skin. Sometimes we have only one area of our body that is really dry, well work on that area the most.
Don't let bath water get to cool, top it up to keep at an even temperature.
Once had enough just blot dry your skin with a soft cotton towel, sometimes just using your hands as a towel works wonders to. You will notice skin doesn't need a lot of drying as oils have locked in the moisture.
As we all know after soaking in a bath it's advisable to drink a good amount of water. Taking a Evening Primrose vitamin tablet helps Dry Skin hugely too.
Something I used to do when hairdressing, as you can imagine hairdressers hands would have to be the driest out there. I would use a teaspoon of vegetable oil or really my favourite Sweet Almond oil, mainly because of it's beautiful aroma. OK oil plus lots of Sugar. Really rub it all into your hands, adding more oil or sugar as needed. It is so wonderful for lifting dry skin and leaving them feeling so soft. Just run hands under cool water to get rid of any excess sugar once you feel your hands have had enough, rub hands together to dry them. Really this can be used on your feet or any other part of your body that is really dry too.
And why not give a friend in need a hand massage, that way your hands get worked on at the same time.
Please remember these are just my own bathing remedies and tips. They are not meant for any special medical conditions.
Enjoy :-)

Keeping Bath Time Safe for Your Baby
Each and every year a surprising number of infants and toddlers end up seriously injured and even killed while bathing. There are instances in which the most seemingly diligent and protective of parents have ended up losing a child because of an accidental drowning at bath time.
When it comes to your infant or toddler, there are some crucial facts that you need to keep in mind in regard to bath time safety. By paying attention to these pointers, you will be able to eliminate risks that can be associated with your child at bath time.
The most fundamental factor that you absolutely must keep in mind when it comes to you child’s bath time is that you cannot – ever – leave your child alone while bathing. You cannot leave your child alone even for a few seconds. You cannot leave your child alone even if your youngster is only sitting in a tub with less than an inch of water.
A number of accidental events can happen in no time at all. For example, in a matter of seconds, it is possible (depending on where you are bathing your child) for your child to turn on the hot water and scald his or herself.
As an aside, one way that you can work to avoid accidentally scalding and related injuries is to turn down the temperature of your hot water heater.
You also need to keep in mind that it absolutely is possible for a child (or even an adult in some instances) to drown in only a small amount of water. Therefore, and again, no matter how short of time you intend to be away, you must never leave your child alone when in a bath.
You also need to keep in mind that having a child watch a child is not adequate. You simply must make certain that a mature adult is present at all times when your youngster is in the tub or bathing.
Another step that you need to take in order to best ensure the safety of your infant or toddler when bathing is to make sure that you do not overdue on the toys. There are instances in which so many toys are included in the bath water that a child can end up being injured.
In addition, do not have pets (dogs or cats, for example) in the same room when you are bathing your child. A pet could become unruly, harm the child while in the bath or distract you when you must be focusing your attention on the child in the bath water. Similarly, do not have other children in the room when you are giving a baby or a toddler a bath if it can be avoided as other children can also be a distraction.
Finally, you need to be very cautious about the particular bathing products that you utilize for your child. You need to make certain that you utilize only mild shampoos and soaps when it comes to bathing your child.

Lavender Bathing Salts
I have been looking for ages for the great old tried and true
Lavender Bathing Salts. If your like me you'll remember as a kid Mum putting the bath salts in the bath to soften the water.
Thank god they came up with some great ones today that not only smell great, but are so calming and relaxing too.
I have added the Pure French Lavender Essential Oil; here because it is one oil that is 100% natural with no artificial fragrances. Is rich in calcium, has a natural detoxifying agent, rich in calcium, potassium and magnesium. Have put in the product description below for you.
I have spoken about Lavender in an earlier post so thought time to show you a product to use. I actually find this one by searches for a gift for my Mum who is having a knee operation soon and thought she could do with some relaxing.
To use this as a great bathing ritual in your daily life, they say it's best to close the door when adding 2-3 ounces of bath salts to running water. The reason for this is to keep the beautiful aroma of the lavender in the room. Let it stay in the steam to help relax and calm you.
So turn on that lovely relaxing music step into your bath and soak all the worries of life away...
Enjoy

Bathing Remedies Can be an Art
I've been looking through my little book of Bathing Tips, can tell you it's getting a bit tatty, shows I use it a lot and regularly. My grandma plus my Mum have added to it over the years.
I went looking for the remedy that I feel most of us woman today need every now and than. Sometimes PMS can really get on top of us. There is a real connection between the Art of Bathing and relieving stress we could do without. A lot of you will have your little rituals that relieve PMS for you. I believe half the time if your living with others, they're the ones that could do with a few Bathing Tips (sorry guys only joking!!).
There are a couple of different Aromatherapy Essences that I use. There are many others too, it's just finding the one that suits you.
Jasmine.
Which is my favorite.
Try putting just a few drops into your Bath. Set the mood with lovely soft music, turn off the cell phone, unhook the other phones. It's all part of the Art of Bathing. Do it right and you'll feel wonderful.
With Jasmine you can instantly feel a lift in your spirits. The oil has a Exotic Aroma to it, you can even feel the warmth of this oil so sensuous. Very balancing for the mind. Just let it take over your senses and feel the pms stress wash away. One extra bonus is it's very good for our lovely stretch marks.
It is even used as an Aphrodisiac. After Rose, Jasmine is one of the most expensive oils to produce so hey it must be good for you.
Rose Otto. Is another favorite of mine and my Mums number one. Again only need a few drops.
Bathing in Rose Otto installs a feeling of Happiness and Contentment. Very calming and also very Sensual. Something we don't feel at this time. It's another oil that has been used for many years to the relieve PMS pains.
Again set the mood and let it wash over you.
Enjoy..
Let me Know some of yours..

Another Bathing Remedy
Lazy hot days in the sun can leave some of us fair skinned beauties a little bit burned. Well those at the moment that are lucky enough to get out in the sun.
There is nothing nicer than coming home to a lovely soothing bath.
But first need to prepare the bath and yourself too.
When we were kids my grandmother would always make us stand under the shower before allowing us to jump in the bath. Your skin burning from a day being in the salt sea water and burnt from the intense sun, and yes back then no sunscreen like today. We used to think she was mean. Funny how we change our way of thinking as we too get older and dear I say wiser.
Well getting back to what you need to do. And Yes you do need to have that cool shower first. What I learnt as I got older, your pores are opened up a lot by the heat of the sun, so need to close them a little before soaking in a warm oiled filled bath. Makes sense when you know that.
The best oils to use to take the bite or sting out of sun burnt, sun stressed skin are;
Simply 5 drops of Lavender Oil, for those that don't like Lavender you can use Camomile oil, just as good.
Be careful hopping into any bath with oil in it, as it can be slippery.
Don't make the bath to hot, as your skin will sweat and so won't be as soothing and enjoyable as it should be.
Once you feel your skin has rejuvenated and time to get out, soothe your skin even more by smoothing it in calming Aloe Vera Gel.
Also drink lots of water as sun can dehydrate the skin.
Have fun in the Sun but do take the sunscreen. And remember these are just remedies I have grown up with.
Enjoy :-)

How Many Bath Remedies Do You Know ?
A good soak in the bath can do wonders for so many aliments. I love a good soak when my back gives me hell. Great for Chilblains, Swollen Ankles, Aching Feet, Sunburn, Prickly Heat, Colds, Bad Circulation, Migraines; The list could go on and on. But what to do for each one. Not just soaking in the bath, but it's what you put in it that makes the difference. Also some ideas are not just for the bath, it can just be part of helping the condition .
And please these are only what I have picked up, and what has been passed down to me. The good old remedies are sometimes the best.
Migraines:
Make up a jar of this ready to help ease those awful migraines.
Try two drops marjoram, four drops of Lavender and two drops of Rosemary oils.Make up with 60ml Jojoba oil. A good dark jar is best or just store in a dark place.
When you feel migraine coming on, as we get to know our symptoms, we know to get to it as soon as possible, so have that jar ready. Just put a small amount (don't need to much, depends on size of bath) 2 to 5ml, add to warm not to hot water. Be careful getting into any bath with oil in it, can be slippery.
Relax in bath with flannel soaked in the bath oils, put on your forehead, also if you have one a neck pillow. I can wet mine which is great as can soak that in the bath oil too and put around neck. Try to relax as much as you can, breathing in the lovely smells of lavender and rose. A eye mask made from Lavender put on your eyes while soaking can be a great help too.
Picture yourself on a beautiful island with glass like blue seas , lay in the surf and let the water wash away the pain.

Will list some more remedies soon. Please feel free too leave some of your remedies too, would love to hear from you. Enjoy....

Japanese Bathing
As Japan is situated on volcanic islands bubbling with over 20,000 mineral hot springs,it's understandable that bathing has become a real art form.
Bathing Japanese style in communal hot springs , or as they were once called Onsens.
There are still several Old Onsens in Tokyo where friends and families still gather for an evening soak, scrub backs and drink sake (as photo above) at communal public bathhouses.
It's said that if you follow the onsen bathing etiquette and have a good long soak, expect to be congratulated for attaining the state of yude-dako. "The boiled Octopus"
The Japanese was once said to get clean before they bath. Ancient traditions made scrubbing and cleansing the skin before soaking in the hinokiburo, a traditional Japanese bath tub.
So different to home bathing, which in solitude, was a time for centering the mind, re balancing and recovering a sense of well being.
A lovely water treatment renowned for it's deep cleansing and healing properties,is a great
Seaweed Soak. Seaweed has been high on the list of natural remedies for centuries.
Best to soak at home for this one, (can get seaweed from health food shops) . Dilute 60 grams (2oz) of dried seaweed with a small amount of hot water. Allow the seaweed to dissolve, add it to warm bath water and soak for no more than 20 minutes. But do please ask at health store for any other instructions,as this is how I use it. Enjoy.

Art of Bathing
Bathing Rituals, Bathing Solutions, Fragrant Bathing. Is it something we need help with or just something that has a history,is romantic and is interesting.
Hi every one I hope to cover as much as I can for you on the Art of Bathing. Over time will post tips and ideas, even some history on bathing, which I'll start with now.
It is believed that the Egyptians were truly obsessed with their personal hygiene. Cleopatra so well known for her goats milk baths.Their must be some truth in the fact that the goats milk is good for the skin,as she had the most beautiful skin, written about in history books for years. If you can think of history and how advanced the Egyptians were. They had what we call spa baths built from beautiful colored tiles, steps down into the water. The romantic settings are still enjoyed by us all today.
The Turkey Bath houses used more as social gathering so important in their daily lives.
To the Romans bathing was classed as a ceremonial ritual.
People have found so many different ways to bath over the centuries. From hot pools and springs,to make shaft tubs of putting stones together.Even the use of plastic bags in a hole in the ground. We have come a long way over the centiries, but than again have we.Cleopatra might have something to say about that.
More to come : Pamper,cleanse,purify,refresh.
